Our Little Girl Turns 8

There are many moments that I can remember in my life. Being baptized and confirmed is one of them. I remember my mom had made a beautiful white dress for me and that when I entered the water my dress floated over the top. I also remember how warm the water was and that it made me feel so at peace. For the last few weeks I have been trying to prepare for this moment but I am not sure that I am quite ready to watch my little girl take such a big step in her life. She is growing into such a pretty young girl and it breaks my heart sometimes to think that I have a child so old and mature. These pictures capture the little "spirit" that Ellie has. She is such an emotional child both good and bad. I love how serious she is at times and how crazy she is the next minute. She loves life and it shows in her eyes. I fight back the tears daily as I watch her walk to the bus stop and pray about all the things that I hope she will become in her life and hope that I have a big enough influence on her to direct her the right way. For that reason I am so excited for her to get baptized and be able to have the holy ghost to comfort her and aide her in each day and trial she faces. Thank you to every person that has contributed to her baptism book. I hope this is a special time for her.

Wait.....I have to catch my breath...there is so much emotion going on inside of me!
You are experiencing the same feelings I had over twenty years ago as I watched my first little girl take those huge steps into the waters of baptism...and knew that she now was accountable. You will find, as I did, that even though she is now accountable, you are still willing to accept responsibility for each little error they she make and take the consequences, rather than to see her suffer. It will be your next challenge....to let her learn the "action/consequence" lesson. It is hard (and sometimes does break your heart), but it is the plan.
If she turns out as beautiful, helpful, and good-hearted as her mother - you will be a huge success! I love both so very much! Happy birthday - my two lovlies!

The first picture of Ellie makes her look so grown up. I have always told her that she was my first grandchild and of course that makes her special to me. She has always treated me with so much love and affection that I hope that doesn't change as she grows up. Knowing how her mother is, I am confident that she will always have a love for her family including her sisters, parents, grandparents and everyone else in her extended family. I love how she is such a good friend to Tess and to Luke. She looks so much like an angel in the pictures. I am glad that this one came to earth to be ours.

Ellie, I hope you know how much your grandpa loves you and how proud I am of you and your baptism.

Oh, I love these pictures. How neat for her to have. I'm sure she will be great because she has two great parents who love her and will support her in every decision she makes. How blessed we are to have these little spirits in our lives. Also, Happy Birthday to You!!!

You have been mentioning the baptism for a while but I just thought Ellie could not posibly be 8 years old. I love the pictures and she does look so grown up and beautiful. I just can not imagine 8 years have gone by, I remember when she was born. As far as her making the right decisions in life... I think she has great examples to look to.
I wanted to Ellie I remember my baptism. I was baptised in the old swimming pool at the Midle school. It was were I had played many times, but that day I remember the spirit being there. It was a great spiritual experience for me as a 8 year old to know that the spirit could be anywhere. (Even at the swimming pool) We are proud of you Ellie!!!

Happy Birthday to both of you! She looks so beautiful in those pictures! It is so sereal having a child baptized! I was in a fog all day on Jackson's special day. When he came out of water...I just remember looking at him and I could literally see a change in him. Such a wonderful change...but being the mom, a very emotional moment. As they say...It is GREAT to be 8! Can't wait to see pictures of the BIG day!
